AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a late night large scale incident in a village near Whitchurch.
Three fire crews were called to the scene in Chester Road, Malpas, shortly before 11.30pm last night (Tuesday, March 22).
One arrival they discovered a large scale fire involving outbuildings and portable toilets.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a main jet and two hose reels to tackle the blaze. Cordons were put in place as crews dealt with the incident and a fire investigator and police were called, as it is believed the fire was started deliberately.

An ambulance was also requested as there was a casualty who was being cared for by firefighters.
Once the fire was out the debris was turned over and hose reels used to completely extinguish it.
A thermal imaging camera was used to monitor temperatures.
A joint fire and police investigation is taking place.
