FIRST the father wowed a nation with his nimble footwork on the football pitch – and now his son is doing the same, this time on the ice rink.

Former Ellesmere College pupil Regan Gascoigne – son of football legend Paul Gascoigne and his ex-wife Sheryl – has been captivating audiences on ITV's Dancing on Ice.

On his debut on the hit show, Regan gave an incredible performance alongside his professional dance partner Karina Manta to score 33 points out of 40 and top the leader board.

Former England rugby union international, Ben Foden, was the first contestant to be voted off the show by the public.

Speaking after his performance Regan said: "I've never learnt to skate before.

"I'm just so appreciative of having this opportunity to learn a new skill and I want to give it everything."

Regan attended Ellesmere College between the ages of eight and 11.

He subsequently went on to attend The Hammond in Chester, which is a specialist performing arts school and then studied at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.

Regan discovered his passion for arts when he was six years old when he was found dancing at the school hall and has subsequently made a career for himself in dancing and performing arts.

He is part of the famous London based international artist agency, Urban Voices Collective and has performed alongside world famous stars, like the American pop star, Demi Lovato.

He has also performed in The Nutcracker with the English National Ballet, featured as a singer in The Real Full Monty, performed in campaigns for brands like Samsung and has completed an acting class in London.

Regan is not the first person in the Gascoigne family to appear on dancing TV shows.

His half-sister, glamour model, Bianca, who was watching him perform live with their mother, appeared on the Italian version of Dancing with The Stars.

Regan's famous father also publicly showed his support for his son, the pair having reconciled after having a strained relationship.

Before Regan made his appearance, the football legend appeared on ITV and was in tears and said: "The minute you were born I was proud son.

"No doubt when you come on the stage...

"I was getting emotional then.

"I just want to tell you how proud I am."

A spokesperson for Ellesmere College said: "We're delighted for Regan and wish him the best of luck on Dancing on Ice."
