COUNCILLORS will be attending a special meeting in Ellesmere on Monday to discuss the budget.

However, the setting of the budget by councillors will take place in a private session, away from press and public who will be excluded from the meeting.

In the private session at the meeting, which starts at 7.15pm at Ellesmere Town Hall in Willow Street, the council will vote on finalising the budget for the year.

The budget will be broken down for councillors within the private session, including explanation of why it has been set as it has, what the earmarked reserves are, any outstanding loans and the council's bank balance.

It is possible that future meeting dates and agenda items – both currently in private – may be brought forward into the public session, if councillors vote to do so.

Meanwhile, planning items heard in public are for two tree conservation applications in Talbot Street and Sparbridge, respectively.

There will also be a period of 10 minutes set aside at the start to public questions.
