A CHARITY has donated blankets to help keep vulnerable people and families warm over the winter months.

Age UK Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin collected the blankets made by Loppington Knitting Group, based between Ellesmere and Wem, and gave them to Marches Energy Agency after the organisation put a call out asking for people to donate cosy blankets, throws, slippers and anything else that might help towards keeping vulnerable people and families warm over winter.

The blankets were leftovers that had been donated in 2020 by the knitting group that wanted the blankets to keep older people warm in the winter so Emma thought this was the perfect cause to donate them to.

Rebecca Hughes, marketing and communications manager at Marches Energy Agency, said: “These blankets will be a support for vulnerable people this winter, who often have to make the choice between feeding themselves and heating their homes. This includes many elderly people living in cold homes with inefficient heating.

"We thank Loppington Knitting Group and Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin for their lovely donation, it will help so much."
