Network Rail will be carrying out work under Wem Bridge not long after having completed the building of the new bridge.

They will be carrying out work to repair the brickwork on the abutment walls which support the new bridge.

Scaffolding will be installed around the abutment and one lane of Mill Street and footpath will be closed temporarily.

There will be three-way traffic lights in place and the work will last from January 17 to January 28.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: “The traffic lights will only be in operation during our normal working hours, 08.00 – 17.00, Monday to Friday. Outside of these times, they will be removed and the road will be open as normal.

"Network Rail would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience."

If you have any questions or concerns about the work please call Network Rail's 24-hour National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or visit www.networkrail.co.uk/contactus.
