A CLUB for older people and those feeling lonely or vulnerable has still been able to able to celebrate Christmas with its members.
The Whitchurch Senior Citizens Club, in pearl yard, held a dinner for older members on Sunday, December 19, courtesy of some local help.
A spokesman for the club said that they were delighted to hold the dinner in light of some recent upheaval for the club.
They said: "Neither the sudden resignation of the secretary/treasurer, nor the pandemic could stop Whitchurch Senior Citizens’ Club from holding its annual Christmas lunch.
"A call for volunteers immediately filled the vacant post, while a local benefactor generously funded not only the lunch, but also a present for everyone.
"On the Sunday before Christmas, 36 members of the club gathered in the Pearl Yard Hall to enjoy a traditional main course, three choices of sweet, tea or coffee and then opened their presents.
"A raffle ended this splendid example of generosity and can do spirit."
