WORK to replace a rail bridge in Wem's Mill Street has been completed over the Christmas period.
The bridge work, which has led to the part closure of the main road into the town centre, drew a crowd of interested onlookers as the older structure was removed by Network Rail workers.
The roundabout close to the junction was closed while the new structure was dropped into place on Boxing Day, showing a new green look that has not left residents inspired.
However, plenty took to social media to welcome the work and some even said they were looking forward to driving under.
The road will remain closed until 4am on Wednesday, December 29.
Laura Townsend, scheme project manager for Network Rail said: “We’d like to thank the community for their patience as we carried out this essential work to replace the bridge over Mill Street."
