The MP for Clywd South praised staff as he attended the Christmas Race Meeting at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse.

Tory MP Simon Baynes met the chairman, Richard Aston and the general manager, Jeannie Chantler, and was given a tour of the site.

Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse is one of three Welsh racecourses along with Chepstow and Ffos Las in Carmarthenshire.

Mr Baynes praised the team for their hard work, ensuring race-days are enjoyed by visitors throughout year and for their contribution to the local economy.

Mr Baynes said: “It was a pleasure to visit Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse on such a beautiful day and experience the last race meeting of 2021.

"During the visit, I met with Richard Aston, Jeannie Chantler and the staff at the racecourse who work incredibly hard throughout the year to ensure that race meetings are able to be enjoyed by so many people.

"Bangor-on-Dee is a remarkable racecourse and the only one we have here in North Wales, so it’s great to see we have such an impressive course here on our doorstep in Clwyd South.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the staff at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2022."

Ms Chantler said: “Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse was delighted to welcome the Clwyd South Member of Parliament, Simon Baynes, to a race day in December 2021.

"We have been privileged to have been able to continue to race during the difficult times with strict guidance in place both from Parliament, the Welsh Government and the British Horseracing Authority and we look forward to being able to continue to do so.”
