PLANNING permission for the building of a rear single-storey extension plus a replacement garage has been granted for an Ellesmere property.

The plans for The Oaklands, in Elson Road – submitted by Dr Graham Farrow – were cleared for building last week by planning officers at Shropshire Council.

Conditions were placed on the granting of permisison, such as new work to match the current building, and work to be carried out on time.

The original planning statement state the reasons for the extension to be built.

It said: "Currently the dwelling has a single storey uPVC conservatory which is in poor condition and due to its nature becomes very hot in the summer months and very cold in the winter months. As a consequence, this is a space which is not usable for the majority of the year.

"The existing garage does provide enough space for two cars; however, because of its proportions, there is a need to park one car behind the other which presents an issue in terms of its intended practical use.

"Additionally, the current garage roof arrangement is disjointed which presents concerns from both an aesthetic perspective and in terms of maintenance."
