WEM celebrated the beginning of the festivities on Friday evening, with the return of the Christmas lights switch on and parade.
No event was held in 2020, but there was clearly some pent-up demand, as the streets were filled with residents enjoying the festivities.
A big draw was the Christmas camels, which once again delighted those who had turned out and the big switch on was conducted by broadcaster Sybil Ruscoe, along withy her sister Hazel.
And there were various other Christmas-themed things on the street for residents to enjoy.
Councillor Peter Broomhall, mayor of Wem, said he was delighted to see so many people out for the parade.
"It's been fantastic," said Cllr Broomhall.
"It's nice to see so many people turn out and I know people are pleased to see the camels.
"Events like this are always popular, they get many people to come out and the town in always buzzing."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the parade added: "Thank you so much for everyone coming out to support Wem.
"The weather was kind, the parade was great, rotary Father Christmas sleigh led beautifully, the Camels were fabulous, the singers and musicians made the evening so festive.
"Sybil and Hazel Ruscoe switched the lights on without a problem.
"The draw was a big success thank you to all shops and businesses that donated prizes and to everyone who bought tickets.
"Thank you to all the Road Marshalls – it must be a tedious job, but someone has to do it for safety reasons.
"Enjoy your Christmas, keep safe and hopefully see you next year."
