A CONSULTATION has been launched into a proposed speed limit reduction along a key Whitchurch road.
Chester Road, from the A41 roundabout to the 30mph zone is currently national speed limit, but the consultation seeks to reduce this to 40mph
The consultation from Shropshire Council says: "A speed reduction from 60mph to 40mph is proposed to provide a buffer zone to reduce traffic speeds entering the existing 30mph speed restriction, facilitating and improving safety and amenities for vehicular traffic and all road users."
Proposals to reduce the speed limit have been put forward by Whitchurch Town Council in the past, with plans discussed in February, 2020.
At the time it was estimated that it would cost around £4,000 for signage.
The consultation opens on Wednesday, November 24 and will run until December 15.
