A MALPAS pub has played host to an exhibition, showcasing the work of award-winning artist Sarah Webb.

Sarah's artwork was displayed at The Lion in a one-off VIP event, on Friday, October 15, followed by an opening to the general public the next day.

The event was attended by locals and visitors to the area alike, with some guests even flying in from abroad to view the artwork at this charming Cheshire venue.

As well as giving visitors the opportunity to browse the pieces – with Sarah's latest collection based on Cheshire and the rural activities the county is known for – the event helped to raise money for Tarporley Memorial Hospital with a raffle being hosted to win the painting 'Sheep on Snowy Wolds', and with a proceed of sales going to the charity too.

The event took place in The Lion's Brereton Suite, and Woody Barlow, director of pub operators Bear Inns, said he was delighted to show off the exhibition.

He said: "We were delighted to welcome so many guests to our suite last weekend for such a unique event.

"The money raised in the raffle will no doubt be a huge help to those at Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, and we're looking forward to putting on similar events in the future.

"After such a turbulent 18 months, it's a breath of fresh air to be able to host in our beautiful Brereton Suite, in which we've happily seen a renewed return of weddings and other ceremonies."

Meanwhile, Sarah added: "I can't thank the Lion enough for their hospitality and organisation over the weekend.

"I enjoyed meeting art lovers and prospective buyers alike, and hope this will be the first of my collaborations with Bear Inns."
