A NEW netball league is starting in Wem later this month.

Leagues4you is starting the league as part of its mission to put netball into rural and semi rural areas to make it inclusive to everyone not always able to travel great distances to play.

The league will running from Thomas Adams School in Wem, starting on Wednesday, November 24.

A league spokesman said: "There are no affiliation fees and players can enter our leagues with a team or on an individual basis and we will put teams together where necessary.

"We provide the venues, officiators and equipment.

"The cost per team each week is £37 which includes match and officiating fees equating to £4.65 per player based on an eight-player team while matchplay is three 12-minute thirds.

"Playing sport and regular exercise is so high on the agenda for mental health and wellbeing given the current climate and the past 18 months of uncertainty with the pandemic.

"We currently host leagues in over 43 establishments nationwide, consisting of 500 netball and rounders teams, concentrating on community, friendship and being a place for everyone to get involved in sport."
