THE organiser of a charity match which has raised thousands of pounds for the mental health charity MIND says he cannot wait to start organising an event for 2022.

Kieran Davies organised and played in Match for Mind, which was held the Park Hall home of The New Saints in Oswestry, on Friday, October 8 with a bumper crowd including North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson.

With Kieran taking a starring role, and joined by TikTokers such as AceMusa and Cal The Dragon, plus cult footballer 'Gary's Goals', the event proved to be hugely popular with plenty travelling to lend their support.

He admitted he would not have been able to pull off the event without support and thanked all those who helped.

"We’ve already got plans to do it again next year, bigger and better," he said.

"The day wouldn’t have been possible without the generous sponsorships of Lion Quays, Langstone Quays and Rhos Snooker Club.

"We had supporters travel from all round the England to watch the game, a few fans I spoke to had come down from London to watch.

"We had a pitch invasion at the end of the game that only added to the atmosphere and everyone was genuinely buzzing about it. The players, officials and organisers all had the best day.

"Match for Mind was an absolutely incredible success.

"We had a crowd of around 650 people and livestream buys stretched as far as Australia.

“The game finished 4-2 to the red team and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.

"We have raised thousands of pounds for Mind UK and had a phenomenal time doing it."

Kieran admitted he was delighted with the success from a personal point of view.

He added: "Every free minute, countless sleepless nights, emails, phone calls – it was all so so worth it.

"It’s taken me a few days to really process what we achieved, but this is the beginning of something special, this is only going to grow and grow.

"Thank you to all the team who helped organise everything and make it a success.

"This really is the best thing I’ve ever done, and I still can’t actually believe we put this together."
