AN ELLESMERE man has been spared a driving ban by Telford Magistrates.

Ethan Griffiths, who lives in Lee, appeared at the court to argue that he not be banned from driving for accruing 12 points on his licence, following another traffic offence.

He pleaded guilty to causing a vehicle to left in a dangerous position on February 24 this year when he left his car in Oak Drive, Oswestry, near to the junction of Shrewsbury Road.

He had previous points on his licence for defective tyres but he successfully argued that a disqualification would have a detrimental effect on his life, including two sons and a partner he was currently separated from.

Mr Griffiths told the court he was currently a part-time labourer who saw his sons –aged three and 18 months old – most nights and each weekend, and drove their mother to work at weekends.

He added that he would not be able to rely on other drivers to help and that his job would be made permanent if he avoided a ban.

He was fined £100 while there were further costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
