GREEN fingered Whitchurch residents will receive a gardening education courtesy of two Chelsea Flower Show winners later this month.

Fresh from winning gold at this year's show, and consequent TV coverage, national multi-award winning commercial growers Chrysanthemums Direct will make a presentation at Whitchurch Civic Centre.

The illustrated talk by Trevor Lawrence will show how the Cheshire-based company grow their prize winning blooms on a commercial scale, including for Marks and Spencer, at their state-of-the-art nurseries near Knutsford.

The talk will be hosted by Whitchurch Garden Club and will be held in the Edward German Room at Whitchurch Civic Centre at 7.30pm on Friday, October 29.

The talk is open to members and non members with a charge of £3 to all.

Clive Payne, from the club, said he looked forward to the presentation.

He said: "We have been very fortunate to have arranged this presentation.

"As well as covering the production of chrysanthemums commercially the talk will also relate to home growing.

"All are welcome.

"The club's final meeting in its autumn programme will be a talk and presentation 'Festive Ways with Foliage' by Sue Bradley at the same time and venue on Friday, November 26."
