WHITCHURCH Photography Society welcomed new members to their latest meeting, with a variety of talks and competitions.

The group meets weekly at Pearl Yard in Whitchurch after resuming face-to-face meetings in September.

Sandy Robertson, club president, said she was pleased to welcome new members to the fold.

She said: "We are continuing to meet weekly at Pearl Yard with a Covid policy being implemented in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.

"We have also attracted some new members which is always pleasing as they bring with them new blood and ideas.

"It has been difficult for many of us during the lockdowns to find opportunities to use our cameras but as restrictions begin to ease the possibilities increase."

Sandy says that the club's photography competitions have also resumed.

She added: "The new season at the society is progressing well with some excellent speakers presenting talks on varied topics and the first club competition of the year was held in late September.

"This was an 'open' competition which means that there is no specific topic or theme and consists of both printed and digital images.

"As we have during recent times only produced projected digital images it did come as a shock to some of us to try and remember some of the skills necessary to produce prints.

"The second club competition takes place next week and the topic is 'humour'.

"We expect an entertaining evening.

"If you might be interested in coming along to any of our sessions as a visitor, please visit our website whitchurchphotographicsociety.org.uk to view the weekly programme."
