A BONFIRE was mistaken for a blaze at a Wem property on Sunday (October 17).
The incident in Chapel Street happened at around 3.20pm and saw firefighters from the town station joined by Prees counterparts.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service explained: "This incident was a false alarm caused by passer by mistaking smoke from a bonfire for smoke from the property."
Crews left the scene just after 3.30pm.
