WEM'S scouts will go door to door this Christmas, not to carol sing, but to deliver Christmas trees.

In recent years First Wem Scouts has gone from strength to strength, running four groups over four nights for around 60 young people.

To raise vital funds for the group, members will be selling and delivering trees to houses around Wem.

A spokesman for the group said proceeds from the sale of the trees would go towards their continued upkeep.

They said: "We provide a range of activities and experiences for local children and young adults.

"Providing a rich and varied programme, alongside adventurous activities and camps, we rely on fundraising in our community.

"This enables us to offer a wide range of affordable, exciting ventures to everyone in the group.

"Any profit from the sale of these trees will go to the group, directly subsidising our activities and enabling our young people to experience new things, build independence and grow as people.

"Raising vital funds for the group, we are able to offer our beautiful, locally grown, Nordman Fir trees and high quality stands.

"Products can be ordered through our website, www.wemscoutschristmastrees.co.uk or outside Co-op Saturday, November 27, Friday, December 3, Saturday, December 4 and Saturday, December 11.

"Delivery at no extra cost to Wem and surrounding areas, including Shawbury, Hadnall, Clive, Grinshill, Loppington, Whixall, Prees etc and collection also available.

"All proceeds go towards keeping our Scout group going and hopefully thriving.

"Thanks in advance for your support.
