EDWARD Timpson, the MP for Eddisbury, has raised £1,500 for a children's charity after completing the London Marathon.

Mr Timpson competed in his 17th marathon earlier this month, with the aim of raising funds for Cheshire Young Carers.

Speaking following his run, which he completed in four hours and seven minutes, Mr Timpson said he was delighted to raise funds for charity.

He said: "After the last few fallow years, it was fantastic to be back out on the buzzing streets of London surrounded by a wall of noise from start to finish.

"The support was incredible and, although this time I finished just the other side of 4 hours (4:07), it's good to know that, 23 years after my first marathon, I can still stagger around 26.2 miles in one piece.

"Even more importantly, it's been a great way to raise money for Cheshire Young Carers, and help them provide many children and young people in our communities who have caring responsibilities with the respite, advice and support they need and deserve.
