A MEETING will be held next month to discuss plans to construct around 20 houses on a section of land in Tilston.

Plans have been drawn up to construct 23 houses in Church Road, next to the playing fields.

A discussion with the developers Liberty Properties was held in September, where Philip Morris from the firm outlined the plans.

At the meeting he said his firm had been in conversation with the landowner for a number of years over purchasing the site, to construct 'starter homes' and that a number of construction firms were interested in developing the site.

The outline principles of the new homes would be that the properties will be sold at 30 per cent less than market value in perpetuity and that local people would be given priority to purchase the properties, with prices capped at £250,000.

Other issues were highlighted during the meeting, including the need for traffic calming measures in Church Street and a new footpath through the site.

It was noted at the meeting that the councillors could not make a decision on whether or not to support the proposal at this meeting and that this could only be done at a parish council meeting which would be open to the public.

A second presentation on the development will now take place at Tilston Parish Council's next meeting, to be held on Wednesday, November 3.
