ELLESMERE'S war memorial will be rededicated for this year's Remembrance Day.

Members of the town council will join the Royal British Legion for a slightly different service to commemorate the memorial's 100th anniversary.

Typically, town councillors will meet with members of the public at the town's war memorial, but as the memorial itself is 100 years old this year, the memorial will be rededicated.

Council clerk, Jo Butterworth, explained that the Ellesmere branch of the Royal British Legion had invited councillors to the new ceremony.

She said: "This year the war memorial is 100 years old.

"Normally we meet with as many members of the public for a services, but this year they want to rededicate the war memorial.

"All councillors are invited to come on November 11.

"On Sunday, November 14 there will be the normal assembly and parade up to the church to have the church service."
