WHITCHURCH will again lend support to local businesses this month with the return of the Fiver Fest.

The event was first held in early 2020, and encouraged shoppers to spend £5 in the town's participating businesses.

This year's event will take place from October 9 to 23 and is being supported by Whitchurch Business Group.

Sharron Marriott, WBG member and owner of Make Your House a Home, said the event would be a boost to the economy.

She said: "It's a chance for independent businesses to use their collective power to encourage people back to our town centres, to say thank you to customers who supported them during these testing times and to prove once again, that the small guys can compete with the online giants and the supermarkets.

"In fact they beat them hands down in many ways, but most of all their contribution to our local economies.

"The WBG has kindly sponsored the event by supplying point of sale in the form of A4 posters and stickers for all businesses and five large banners to be spread around the town to advertise the event."

So far 28 businesses in Whitchurch have signed up to the event, and will offer various £5 deals to customers.
