WHITCHURCH Alport have been handed a home tie with Sleaford Town in the first round of the Buildbase FA Vase.

The Lincolnshire-based United Counties Football league Premier Division side visit the KMJ Mortgages Stadium on October 23.

The tie is reward for Saturday's 2-1 victory over Pershore Town.

Matt Ennis gave the visitors a 24th minute lead in north Shropshire but the Reds hit back 14 minutes later with Judd Ellis lashing home at the second attempt after his initial effort came back off the woodwork.

Alport led early in the second-half with Celson Segunda slotting home after good work by Alex Hughes.

Goalkeeper Elliott Hart denied Hughes from the penalty spot as the Reds fluffed a chance to settle the outcome.

Pershore were then awarded a penalty with goalkeeper Eric Merner sent off and Jack Griffiths going in goal for the final 20 minutes and immediately earned plaudits with the save.

Both sides carved chances in the final stages but it was Alport who held out to seal a place in the next round.

Meanwhile Prees United eased to a 3-0 win at Wellington AMS in the Salop Leisure Shropshire League.

Prees dominated throughout and led when Chris Owen released Macauley Clifton to break the deadlock before Adam Haile headed his side into a two goal lead.

Player-manager Matty Owen settled the outcome with a 20 yard free-kick after the break.

Elsewhere Wem Town were much-improved in a 4-2 defeat at home to Morda United.

Louie Millington, Andrew Webb, Danny Barton and Richard Chamberlain goals ensured the Yellows the points at the Butler Sports Centre.
