YOUNGSTERS in Malpas have been taking practical lessons on recycling with a litter pick this week.
Children from the Beeches Pre School, north of Malpas, have been learning about waste in recognition of National Recycling week.
So with the help of a local councillor and Malpas Parish Council, youngsters aged between two and four took to the roads in hi-vis vests and picked litter.
A spokesman said: "They looked at different materials and learnt what they could recycle or what had to go to landfill.
"On Wednesday, they spent the day in Malpas village litter picking – they were able to spot the tiniest pieces of litter and half-filled two bags with waste.

"The children were aged from two to fours years old and all understood the message clearly – pick up your litter, take it home, recycle what you can.
"Our thanks to Councillor Rachel Williams and Malpas Parish Council for the loan of hi-vis vests and litter pickers."
