BUSINESS owners across Whitchurch got together this month for the first ever open event of the Whitchurch Business Group.

Held on Wednesday, September 8, various business owners from across Whitchurch represented themselves by meeting with town and county councillors and members of the public who attended.

The event was held on the grounds of the Dodington Lodge throughout the afternoon, and also gave some of the town's sporting and faith groups a chance to meet with prospective new members.

Hilary Seward, who helped organise the event, said visitors enjoyed a 'casual' afternoon.

She said: "The Whitchurch Business Group Event at the Dodington Lodge on September 8 was blessed with absolutely fabulous weather and a great atmosphere with good attendance.

"Stand holders and visitors alike enjoyed a casual but productive afternoon.

"Local businesses were there with stands, mixed with sports clubs, volunteer organisations and faith groups.

"An excellent mixture of local interest for people to meet.

"Whitchurch Town Council was well represented by Pete Lea, Andy Hall, Matt Phipps, Greg Ebbs, Rose Hall and the mayor, John Sinnott.

"Peggy Mullock from Shropshire Council also visited.

"The winner of the £100 prize draw was Sharron Marriott of Make Your House a Home."
