An Ellesmere man will appear in crown court next month after appearing before magistrates on a charge of manslaughter.
Ashley Sumner, 31 and from Berwyn View, Ellesmere, appeared on remand in Telford Magistrates Court on Monday, September 13.
Addressing Kidderminster Magistrates Court over CVP, Sumner, who was dressed in a blue shirt, was charged with manslaughter, taking a vehicle without consent and driving without a licence or insurance.
Sumner is alleged to have assaulted 80-year-old John Bathers, on Monday, September 6, at his home in St Martins, before taking a car.
He spoke only to confirm his name and address, and gave no plea indication for the charge of manslaughter.
He will next appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court on October 11.
No application for bail was submitted and Sumner was remanded in custody until that date.
