Whitchurch Walkers are getting ready to step out once again next weekend with a special trip to celebrate 50 years of Offa's Dyke Path.

On Sunday, September 19, Offa’s Dyke at 50 will be led by Malcolm Monie.

A spokesperson said: "2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Offa’s Dyke Path.

"This walk takes in the section along the Clwydian Hills including Moel Arthur and Moel Famau. A challenging eight miles with over 600m of ascents."

As always please bring suitable clothing, footwear, a walking pole and a packed lunch.

Meet at Sherry Mill Hill car park at 10am and travel to the start of the walk.

Also on Sunday, September 19, the group will take part in a Shropshire Way Festival Walk led by Tony Eccleston.

Meet at Wem Sports and Social Club, Bowens Field, Wem SY4 5AP (GR:SJ 51205 29229) at 1.30pm where you will meet Tony and the Wem Walkers.

This five-mile walk explores some of the southern paths of Route 22 which begins in the market town of Wem, which traces its history to pre-Norman times.

Join Tony after the walk for refreshments at the Tilley Raven.
