WHITCHURCH Men in Sheds look set to move into their new home, after years of being without one.
The group, which is aimed at giving men, and women, a space to chat and undertake practical tasks, was originally based in Centre North East but were forced out in 2018 after the building fell into disrepair.
Since then the group has been without a home, with potential spaces being unsuitable.
But with the Beacon Church taking over the Watergate Centre, a space in the building has been allocated to the Men in Sheds.
In July, members made plans to move into the centre and since then work has progressed to make the space suitable.
Although the work is not yet complete, the group is aiming to move in by the end of September.
A spokesman for the group provided an update of what work was left to be completed.
They said: "Working parties worked at the Watergate Centre over the August Bank Holiday weekend and the space is now spruced up.
"By the end of the month we should be operational.
"Arrangements are in hand to get electrical installation done, sort out the stored equipment, move in and then do the work needed on storage space and benches, etc.
"We await the Watergate Centre remaking the rear entrance so that we will be able to come and go freely."
