ONE of Ellesmere's premier entertainment spots will be hosting a special memorial night concert next weekend to celebrate three departed singers on the local club scene.

The Country & Irish Music Show will take place at the Comrade Club, in Victoria Street, and will be an eight-hour show for just £10, or an afternoon or evening show at £6.50.

Organisers say that now restrictions are lifted, the music show will give plenty of opportunity for people to pay their respects for those that were lost during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesman for the event said: "With restrictions limiting numbers who could attend funerals over the past 18 months it was hard for many to pay their respects to loved ones, close friends and so forth.

"Now that restrictions have been relaxed a memorial show is to be held at the Comrades Club, Ellesmere on Sunday, September 5, in memory of Jeff Cliffson, Dave Curtis, and Richie Jones.

"They are three popular entertainers on the Mid Wales and Shropshire entertainment scene.

"We hope that fans who were unable to pay their respects will come along and support the event which will be in aid of the ENSA Memorial Appeal, a showbusiness charity remembering past entertainers, which seemed a fitting cause to support.

"The memorial show will begin at 3pm and go on till about 10.30pm and a full show ticket costs £10 or for those who can only do either the first or second half the admission is £6.50.

"Everyone will receive a souvenir programme."

Tickets can be obtained in person from the Comrades Club, Maxwells Printing or Marian & Bill Ralphs in Ellesmere or pay on the door.
