A TREASURE hunt to raise funds for the upcoming Caldecott Arts Festival will be held later this month.

The event which will be held in March next year, will celebrate illustrator Randolph Caldecott, who lived in the town in the 1860s between the ages of 15 and 21.

To raise funds and awareness of the event, on Sunday, August 22 a car treasure hunt will take place in and around Whitchurch.

A spokesman for the festival said they were "excited" to be holding the event.

They said: "We are really excited to have the award-winning events team, Shropshire Festivals, on board.

"The event is limited to 30 cars so sign up early and follow the clues to explore the villages of Caldecott country.

"Cars depart from Trevanion Auction House in Station Road between 2pm and 3pm and should arrive at The Glas, Alderford Lake around two hours later.

"There is a prize for the winning car and colouring books for children.

"To sign up email jane@alderford.com or edna.rowland@btinternet.com and join in the fun.

"Tickets are £15 per car and payable on the day as cash or cheque."
