We need your help!

Since the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020, Wrexham Library Service has had to change how it delivers outreach library services to rural communities, where residents have little or limited access to a branch library and or public transport. In autumn 2020, Wrexham Public Library Service safely unlocked and gradually introduced a four-week Outreach Library Service in partnership with some of our local communities, whereby residents and library customers can order, collect and return library items. Priority for the Outreach Library Service has been given to local communities who have no branch library, and little or limited regular public transport. It is envisaged that as this service expands, it will engage with all community councils, community agents and others.

The big challenge we have is to reach more residents with Wrexham Library Outreach Service. We want your thoughts on how your Outreach Library Service will reach you in the future. To help us do this please visit www.wrexham.gov.uk/libraryreview and complete our survey. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. We would like to thank you in advance for your time.

Amdani - books for Welsh learners

Amdani is a lively series of reading books specifically designed for adults who are learning Welsh. The books have been carefully graded across four different levels - entry, foundation, intermediate and advanced. This series of books was launched to meet a gap in the market by giving adult Welsh learners the chance to enjoy reading a variety of contemporary subjects and themes. Wrexham’s libraries have books for all levels in this series, why not book your appointment to browse our collections today?

Reading for fun - The Summer Reading Challenge

A love for reading can be hugely valuable for children. The benefits of leisure reading include increased general knowledge, a positive impact on academic achievement, enhanced reading ability and vocabulary growth. Research suggests that time spent reading for pleasure could be a key indicator for the future success of a child. Reading aloud too fosters a love of books in children, and helps children associate reading with pleasure. If you would like to support your children’s reading with fun and accessible books to read, why not give your local library a call and have a chat about your children joining our reading and reward scheme for children this summer? Contact details can be found on www.wrexham.gov.uk/libraries

Rhwng y Silffoedd gan Andrew Green

Rhwng y Silffoedd by Andrew Green

Rhwng y Silffoedd by Andrew Green

Mae Andrew Green yn awdur adnabyddus sydd wedi gweithio mewn sawl prifysgol yng Nghymru a Lloegr ac yn gyn-enillydd Llyfr y Flwyddyn am ei lyfr ffeithiol, ‘Cymru mewn 100 Gwrthrych.’ Mae o’n gyn-lyfrgellydd y Llyfrgell Genedlaethol a bu'n byw yn Aberystwyth am gyfnod maith, ond bellach yn byw yn Abertawe. Nofel 'gampws' ysgafn ydi Rhwng y Silffoedd. Mae'n dilyn hynt darlithwyr ym Mhrifysgol Aberchaeron sy'n ymdebygu i brifysgol amlwg yn Ne Cymru, ac yn llawn sylwadau crafog a dychanol am fyd addysg a bywyd y dref. Mae hefyd yn nofel ddatrys a dirgelwch, gyda sawl cymeriad yn dod o dan amheuaeth o lofruddio'r is-ganghellor.
