PREES Football Club have unveiled Matty Owen as their new manager.

The former Newtown, Connah's Quay Nomads and Cefn Druids midfield star will lead the club in the Salop Leisure Premier League next season.

Owen is well-known in Welsh football circles as one of the stars of the Newtown side which shocked Maltese side Valletta in the first qualifying round of the Europa League in 2015.

Owen had spells with Nomads and Druids after his departure from Latham Park and spent last season at Whitchurch Alport.

Director of football Dan Blackhurst said: "It's great to get the hot seat filled. Geoff and the boys had a great season last year it would of been a great shame if we didn't put a side out this season.

"With Matty coming in it shows how far we have come, he should still be playing but fancied the opportunity to be on the other side of the touch line, its a completely different role but his enthusiasm and willingness to get straight into it showed me he will be up for the challenge, excited to see what he can do."

The club is on the look out for people to come get involved with the running of the club from secretary roles, social media to fund raising and working alongside Prees United FC Ladies.

Blackhurst added: "We are still on the look out to improve the squad so if your interested the lads train 7pm Tuesday nights at Prees."
