TWO engineers from a Whitchurch-based firm have proved they are the next generation after completing their first major project.
Kieran Hilton and Jack Foster, two former apprentices at Landia, recently installed of one of the firm's aeration systems to a major dairy products manufacturer in the north west of England.
The retrofit installation was for industrial effluent treatment plant specialists FLI CAP Technology, and had to be achieved in an extremely tight space.
Kieran and Jack installed the AirJets on two large glass-lined steel tanks, to enhance dairy effluent mixing at the site, as well as to prevent odours.
Howard Burton, from Landia, said he was proud to see two of the firm's apprentices rise up through the ranks.
He said: "It is very heartening to see our young engineers come through the ranks to carry out such excellent work – giving a company with the calibre of FLI CAP Technology total assurance that the Landia team will get the job done on time and within budget."
Meanwhile John Hampson, director at FLI CAP Technology, was also complimentary of the former apprentices' work.
He said: "Based on many years' first-class experience with Landia pumps and mixers, we are always confident that our customers will be pleased with the results – and this retrofit was no exception.
"The confined spaces made installation very awkward indeed, but Landia rose to the challenge, working closely with our team to devise a way of getting the AirJets down through a maze of pipework and obstructions."
