AN EVENT to analyse moths' relationship with their local ecosystem will be held at Whixall Moss later this month.

'Moths – Trapping; Identifying; Photographing' will be held over two days from Saturday, July 24.

An evening session will be held on the Saturday, before returning on Sunday morning.

The event will showcase the principles of harm free trapping, the types of traps, why traps are used and will show how and where moth traps are set.

Attendees will return the following morning to see what has been trapped, discuss moth photography with expert Stephen Barlow and learn why moths are an indicator of the health of nature.

These activities will all be explained by natural England volunteer Barry Probin.

Barry said: "It is so important for people to understand that moths are not just beautiful to look at but show us the health of the natural environment."

The Saturday event will be held from 7.30pm until 10pm followed by the Sunday from 9am until 11am.

Places are limited and must be pre-booked at info.whixall@naturalengland.org.uk or by calling Mike Crawshaw on 01948 880362.
