EAGLE-EYED residents across North Wales and north Shropshire were given a spectacular show as an aerobatic display team put on an impromptu display.

People living between Bangor-on-Dee to Ellesmere and through the A5 were treated to a show from Strikemaster Display UK who were practicing for the 2021 summer display season.

The aerobatic display team is based at Hawarden Airport in Flintshire, near the Chester border, and have spent the last few days practising in the skies over Overton, Penley, Ellesmere and down to Chirk.

Those delighted by the display took to the company's Facebook page to express their thanks.

Emma Lee said: "Really enjoyed your show over Bangor-on-Dee today!

"My dog wasn't so keen though! Surprised you couldn't hear him barking!"

Paul Castley said: "Thanks for the mini air show, certainly lightened up my day."

James Dimelow said: "Just given a great display over Penley. Luckily a family member who does a lot of photography knew who you guys were."

Lynn Alison said: "It was wonderful to see you from my office today.

"My colleagues thought it was thundering until we saw you flying over. Fabulous!"

Wendy Mellett said: "I’m in Overton-on-Dee and watched the amazing display today from my home office window."
