THE chairman of Malpas Parish Council, Councillor John Webb, says 'cooperation' is key for the latest council.

The parish council met together in person, on May 26, for the first time in many months.

At the meeting John Webb was elected as chairman, with Mike Boxall elected as vice-chairman, both elected unanimously and unopposed.

The council is now back to full strength with three new councillors having been elected in the May elections.

Councillors Sherrie Roberts Abdelaziz,, Gordon McGregor Reid and Morgan Granger, were all welcomed to the council.

Cllr Webb says his aim for the new council is to build stronger relationships.

He said: "I hope that the new parish council will find ways of working more cooperatively together.

"Recognising the limited powers of the parish council, it is essential that we develop a new constructive and a more productive relationship with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

"The parish council will spend time to review its priorities for the year ahead and the way in which it operates, expecting to be held accountable for delivering the things we say we will do.

"The councillors will serve for two years, with an ‘all out' election in 2023.

"One key event planned by the parish council is the Integration Day – on July 24.

"Cllr Richard Charlton, supported by others, is organising the event to be held at Malpas Sports Club, in Wrexham Road.

"This aim is to showcase the many things on offer in Malpas with a mix of businesses and voluntary organisations.

"With fingers crossed for the weather, it promises to be a fun and informative day."
