A woman was airlifted to hospital after her car rolled into a stream near Welshpool.

The driver was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-changing or threatening.

Police officers, paramedics and an air ambulance crew from Welshpool were sent to the scene of the crash which happened on the A490 at around 6.10pm on Saturday, May 15.

A witness at the scene said the collision happened on a "notorious bend".

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We were called to reports that a car had crashed off the A490 between Welshpool and Guilsfield at around 6.10pm on Saturday, May 15.

"The vehicle had ended up in a stream. The female driver was airlifted to hospital, however, her injuries were not thought to be life-changing or threatening."

A Wales Air Ambulance spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that Wales Air Ambulance attended an incident in the Guilsfield area of Powys on Saturday evening (15/05/21). Our Welshpool-based crew arrived at the scene at 18:47.

"Following treatment at the scene, we airlifted the patient to Royal Stoke Hospital. We left the scene at 19:34 and arrived at the hospital at 19:57. Our involvement concluded at 20:31.”
