QUEENSWAY Fishing Club in Whitchurch has received a boost to its finances thanks to a grant from Tesco.
The club has received £1,000 from Tesco, as part of the supermarket giant’s 'Community Grants’ initiative, whereby community groups can apply for funding for projects that they would like to see improved.
Steve Evans, from the club, says the funding will go towards improving the surroundings of the lake, as well as hosting lessons when Covid restrictions allow.
“Queensway Fishing Club has received £1,000 from Tesco to improve the facilities on the lake,” said Steve.
“The application was made before the first lockdown and came as a very welcome surprise.
“Any kind of fundraising has been impossible over the last year so we are extremely grateful, and the money will be put to good use improving the fishing pegs and the surroundings of the lake.
“We hope to be able to host some more teaching sessions for youngsters when Covid restrictions are lifted further.”
