WHITCHURCH will welcome another TV comic this summer, with Seann Walsh the latest big name confirmed to appear at Whitchurch Comedy Festival.

The festival will take place throughout July, August and early September with most of the shows taking place in a marquee on the lawns of the Dodington Lodge Hotel.

It is being put on by Black Country comedy promoters Funny Beeseness, who said Walsh would headline a show on Friday, August 20.

Walsh will be supported by two acts who have recently made their TV debuts on 'Mock The Week' and '8 Out of 10 Cats' respectively – one-liner comic Mark Simmons and the baby-faced Josh Jones.

It has also been confirmed that character comic Tom Binns will be bringing his psychic character to the Dodington Lodge for a special extended show on Saturday, July 31, supported by hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury.

Also confirmed to appear at the Doddy so far is Ed Byrne on Friday, August 6, while Henning Wehn will open the festival headlining a show at Whitchurch Civic Centre on Saturday July 24.

Scott Bennett and Troy Hawke will also both be performing their latest tour shows at the Dodington Lodge.

More big names will be announced in the coming weeks.

Wayne Beese, director of Funny Beeseness, said: "We're absolutely delighted that Seann, who is one of our absolute favourite live acts, will be joining us for the festival in August.

"He is a brilliant observational comic and the fact he is being supported by two of the fastest rising stars on the circuit means this triple headline bill really could be the pick of the shows for the festival.

"Tom Binns right from the start has been consistently one of the most popular acts we book, and regularly gets standing ovations and encores.

"His show will be well worth a watch.

"We are announcing new shows every Friday and Monday evening to our mailing list over the next couple of weeks.

"So get signed up if you are not on it already to find out first who else will be appearing."
