A PLANNED floating market to be held next month in Whitchurch will now be taking place in Audlem.

Last week it was reported that the Roving Canal Traders Association (RCTA) would be floating into the Whitchurch Arm of the Llangollen Canal from May 1 to May 3.

An unspecified issue has since prevented the traders from using the Llangollen Canal, so now the market will be taking place on the Shropshire Union Canal in Audlem, by the town's locks.

Sue Meades, RCTA market coordinator, explained how the event would go ahead.

"For this first smaller than usual event this year we have a fully approved covid risk assessment & social distancing measures in place to give you peace of mind," said Sue.

"We have chosen the bottom of the locks so that we don't interfere with any trade to Audlem Mill.

"We hope this will give the town a lift as restrictions start to ease, all our traders have spent the winter locally around Shropshire/Staffordshire areas."
