A PAIR of Wem youngsters have raised almost £500 for charity by getting out and about on their bicycles.

Poppy Copnall and Seren Whitehouse, who are both nine years old and go to St Peter’s School in Wem, wanted to raise money for Cancer Research.

To accomplish this, they decided to complete a ten-mile bike ride and set themselves a target of £250.

The pair have since smashed their fundraising target with around £460 being raised so far.

Katie Copnall, Poppy's mum, thanked all those that sponsored the girl's efforts.

"They have smashed their target, raising almost £460 through sponsorship from family and friends, with donations still coming in," said Katie.

"Like so many families, this is a charity very close to the girls’ hearts, both having family members affected by the disease.

"They are delighted with the amount of money going to this great cause and thank everyone for sponsoring them."
