WORK to repair sections of St Alkmund's Church in Whitchurch has resumed once again.

Last year work was completed to repair the exterior of the church, including around the windows, but a number of other jobs had to be delayed because of the covid lockdown.

This included a replacement of internal doors and work on the clock tower.

Reverend Judy Hunt from the church explained.

"Three things had been delayed because of Covid-19 and a backlog for the firms involved, but now we are seeing progress," she said.

"The internal porch doors are having glass inserted in the panels to make the entrance more welcoming to visitors; this is being funded partly by donations given in memory of Anne Monie.

"The work on installing the new auto-regulator for the tower clock has started; thanks to all who helped to fund this via the Friends of St Alkmund's.

"Minor repair work to the east window is being done."

Meanwhile Sunday services at churches in Fauls, Tilstock and Whitchurch will resume this weekend.

"Now that shops and businesses can re-open, services on April 18 will begin with a belated celebration of Easter, to which all are welcome," added Rev Hunt.

"Also, singing is still not allowed and, for those receiving Communion, only the bread will be given."
