MORE than 90 per cent of Shropshire' over-50s have had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which is below the average for the Midlands region.
According to figures researched by the Press Association, 143,617 people aged 50 or over have received their first shot, which is 94.7 per cent of those offered.
That puts them four per cent behind Telford and Wrekin, with 64,802 of those offered taking up the first dose of the vaccine.
Stratford-upon-Avon, Rushmoor and Worcester have the highest proportion of people likely to have received their first jab while the overall figure in the Midlands is 95.1 per cent.
The figures are based on provisional data from NHS England for vaccinations up to April 4, and use population figures from the Office for National Statistics which are the best publicly available official estimates.
In Cheshire West and Chester, 142,355 (97.5 per cent) people have had at least one jab.
