WHITCHURCH Alport will return to the pitch next week for the first time in more than 100 days for the Shropshire FA Premier Challenge Cup.

After 111 days without competitive action the Reds are set to return on Saturday, April 10 in the TJ Vickers Cup quarter final.

With league action voided, Luke Goddard's side will compete in April/May in both the TJ Vickers and a champions league style Senior Cup led by the Shropshire FA.

Luke Goddard's side will return to Yockings Park to train next week and the squad shall remain as previous with rules restricting any news signings despite the near four month absence of football.

The Shropshire Senior Cup will be split into two groups of four.

In Group A will be Shifnal Town, Whitchurch Alport, Shawbury and Haughmond.

Group B will feature Ellesmere Rangers, St Martin's, Allscott and Wellington Ams.

These games are set to be played from April 17, with specific dates to be confirmed.

Each team shall play three games in group stages before the top two qualify for the semi finals and then the final.

A spokesman for Whitchurch alport said: "Although this will all seem very different after so long out the club is grateful of the efforts to get football back going and will do it's upmost to compete in these competitions.

"We are hopeful restrictions will allow the Red Army back in ASAP to come cheer the lads on!"
