ROAD-users around Whitchurch have reason to rejoice following the resurfacing of a section of the A41.

Extensive maintenance and repair work has been carried out on a section of the A41 at Prees Heath, with the work being carried out during a two-night road closure on February 24 and 25 February.

Other non-road surface repairs included the replacement of 28 street lights with energy efficient luminaires, as well as four sign lights.

Shropshire Highways has also replaced 200 cats eyes, plus road marking and lining works, all gullies within the closure have been cleaned and emptied and some road direction signs have been replaced.

The work was carried out by the partners in the Shropshire Highways alliance, including Shropshire Council, Kier and WSP.

Shropshire council hope that the work will 'reduce disruption of an important and busy section of road that is under constant pressure'.
