MASSES at one of Whitchurch's most popular churches are set to return next weekend, provided Covid-19 infection rates do not rise.

Organisers at St John's Methodist Church, in St John's Road, are hoping to return to mass on Sunday, March 7.

Chris Crowther, from the church, said all Covid-19 measures are in place but hopes to see people returning for their servies.

"St John’s Methodist Church is resuming Sunday morning services as from 7th March 2021 providing the infection level continues to drop," said Chris.

"The Covid measures that were in place remain – with a one-way system, social distancing, no singing, sanitising hands coming in and going out, staying two metres apart in the pews and wearing face masks.

"Collection can be given on arrival or departure.

"The service will last no longer than 40 minutes but wrap up warm as the doors must remain open. The regulations ask us not to stand and chat anywhere on the premises before or after the service.

"A recent US study has found that attending church can lower your blood pressure. The more often you go the lower it becomes so you are benefitting not only spiritually but also physically.

"You will be most welcome to join us."
