A WHITCHURCH youngster is dancing her way to emulating the heroic Captain Sir Tom Moore, hoping to raise money for a children's charity.

Miami Edwards, who is nine, is almost a quarter of the way through a 100-day dancing marathon to raise money for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Her dedication to the cause has left mum Jacqueline Edwards delighted and proud, and she hopes plenty more donate to the cause.

"She was on her 23rd day on Saturday," she said.

"Miami has found it good so far and has raised £690 – that's come mainly from Facebook, family and friends.

"Dancing is her thing and she loves to do it.

"She had the idea after learning all about Captain Tom in school when he passed away – they had an online lesson about it.

"She ended up writing a poem about him. She said that if he can raise the money, then so can she – she's a really loving and caring girl.

"Miami hates the thought of children being sad – she's always caring about other children so that's why she's raising the money for the NSPCC.

"She's the fourth of eight and is a classic middle child – always wants to help everyone.

"Miami practises the dancing and routines each day and then performs it, and we put it out on Youtube the next day," said Jacqueline.

"I'm so very proud of her – it takes a lot for a child of her age to plan and carry through with something like this."
