WHITCHURCH will pay tribute to former town councillor Terry O'Neill with the planting of a memorial tree.
At Whitchurch Town Council's full council meeting, held virtually on February 18, councillors voted to accept a gifted cherry tree from departing contractors Nobridge Nurseries.
The firm has donated the tree to be planted in Jubilee Park in memory of the late Cllr Terry O’Neill, who passed away in June 2020.
At the meeting, Cllr Simon Hamlyn also revealed that a plaque would also be placed, with the wording chosen by good friend of Terry, Trevor Fowls.
"Many will know Terry's second office was Trevor Fowls Butchers," said Cllr Hamlyn. "I asked him what kind of words might be suitable and he came up with the following – ‘In fond memory of Terry O'Neill who loved this special place’.
