The language of Shropshire has changed over the centuries and words and phrases once common have long been lost from the local lexicon.
Perhaps some have survived in some shape or form or changed over time to mean something else together
Here are some words once commonly spoken across Shropshire.
Bylet - An island.
Bytack - A small farm held with a larger one by the same tenant.
Cofe - A large chest kept in stables to hold oats for the horses.
